$400 Budget Update – 6/23

Life resumed a routine for our family this week.  It is nice to have some regulated chaos in our world again.  As a result, I spent a lot less time at the store.  It is a good thing–the budget for June is almost gone and we have a week left!

If you are new to my weekly budgeting posts, you can catch the original story here.  This week I shopped at Walmart, Costco, and one local chain.  I do not have  the Costco receipt here in my little stack, so that will come with next week’s total once I track it down.  I do have the picture included here.  As always, you can see our weekly menu down below.

Costco:

Walmart:

  • Gluten free bread (18 oz.), Tissues (100 ct.), Mushrooms (8 oz.), Ground beef (1 lb.), $12.62
  • Total: $12.62

Local Chain:

  • Candy bars (6 oz.), Pasta (2 lb.), Instant milk (9.6 oz.), Tomato soup (10.5 oz.), Baked beans (112 oz.), Tomato sauce (48 oz.), Toilet paper (60 ct.), $30.76 after coupons and tax
  • Chicken breasts (2.5 lb.), Shredded cheese (2 lb.), Margarine (15 oz.), Eggs (1 doz.), Milk (1 gal.), $15.05 after coupons
  • Mushrooms (1 lb.), Tomatoes (0.77 lb.), Lettuce (2), Grapes (2.46 lb.), Cantaloupe (1), Potatoes (5 lb.), Carrots (2 lb.), Tater tots (2 lb.), Corn (2 lb.), Peas (2 lb.), $18.97 after coupon
  • Total: $64.78

Grand Total: $77.40

Total for June: $360.84

We have $39.16 left for the month.  It is almost certain we will go over budget this month, especially since the missing Costco receipt is for nearly that amount.  Which is fine, especially considering that the budget will be $450 a month beginning in July.  I do not like spending more on groceries, but I recognize it is a natural result of our growing children and changing lifestyle.  After all, we have to eat!
